1) HOW’D THIS HAPPEN

I spent more than 25 years as a film producer in my company Film Flair (in Filadelphia, of course). Aside from film visuals, photography was always something I enjoyed, but it wasn't film. The photo pieces weren't edited together like film. So I had to change that somewhat because of all the years of film.

Some image tries were like completing a sentence that somehow did or did or didn't hang together.  Of course, some successes and some not - at first. So whatIdo? My work is like a visual of a Haiku. Each photo-art piece is made up of several images, one built upon the other, to create an answer. There's a begining, a middle, and end. And like a Haiku, many emotions, many lines and curves, many questions, many answers. And like art and poems, some are sensible some nonsensical, some detailed description or color-filled shapes. Some are carefully engineered, some splashed into place. They say what they need to say in a unique or a familiar way. Will you see what I mean?

I have a number of image-likes, as we all do. Among other things, I have an enjoyment of water images – oceans, rivers, streams, even puddles…and trees, of course. There's always another interest and change. People -- Animals -- Foods -- Trash... you name it. Hope you enjoy the subjects.

2) “SHUT YOUR MOUTH! SMELL THIS..” What it’s about – the photo-art I mean.

And then there’s the Philadelphia Italian Market pieces and the eBook. I like the market. It’s the oldest in the US --- 117 + years, plus cooking's a hobby. So how could I not like it. I wondered what I could do photo-covering the market. It’s one of those places everyone photographs the heck out of and the irritated vendors throw rotten fruit and vegetables at the camera person hanging around – or they ask for a talent fee. There were press photogs, people taking photo classes that get the market as an assignment, and travelers always taking photos. So I joined the crowd & took photographs. I developed something akin to film production. Or put another way, tried to edit the photos into a visual story with a little humor. That kept me going. A lot of the enjoyment came from overhearing market-goer conversations – stuff I might know, but worded in a different way – with and without accents. Then decided I’d develop it all further into a book – an eBook. Only took a little over 2 years to complete. The photos took longer than the words. I need to call it PhotoArt. It’s both-but-neither in my view. You’d think finishing about 40 photos wouldn’t take anyone very long to complete. NOT! How about 2 per month over 24 months.

3) PHOTO-ART GICLEE ON STRETCHED CANVAS AND PRINTS

You can have it your way. Some prefer photo prints, and have them mounted and framed. That’s the tradition. The Giclee (zhee-klay) high quality ink-jet print on canvas is stretched over a wood bar the same as painted art. It looks and feels like original art. It can be hung on the wall as it is, or can be in a frame.  I can offer it as you’d like it.

PHOTO-ART SURPRISES

Surprise awards came my way. “Halloween Hurricane,” was selected out of nationwide entries on landscapes – a 6th place award out of 707 entries. It became part of a Maryland Federation of Art 65 piece exhibit. “Clams.” was chosen out of 3000 exhibit gallery entries from A two states-wide North and South Carolina 115 piece exhibit held in Charlotte, NC at the Elders Gallery.

Hope you enjoy the photo-art. --- And, the eBook (if you dare): Shut Your Mouth! Smell This! Italian Sausage and Other Sayings at the Philadelphia Italian Market   eBook Price $2.99

Yes this is all relatively new to me. Something I enjoy. I've now been asked to complete personal photo-art pieces to tell their family story. I did. They're enjoying their photo-art canvas. Do you have a story to tell? I can create a new and personal style photo-art piece for you.
